Count down to 6.0!

Major release coming soon

The much anticipated release of Therap 6.0 features a number of new application modules as well as major upgrades to some of the existing ones. With new and improved applications like General Event Reports, CaseLoads, enhanced Behavior Reporting and many others this is truly going to be a giant step towards becoming a Paperless Provider.

New applications in Therap 6.0 include:

General Event Report (GER): In many states medication errors are considered as a type of incident. The GER application combines the current IR and MER applications to better address this issue. GER also has more flexibility to allow for the completion of specific state incident report forms.

The application has been extended to incorporate a wider range of incidents like death and other restraint incidents. Also, the new GER application has been integrated with the Behavior Tracking application to facilitate reporting events that involve use of restraints.
CaseLoad: With CaseLoads, you can now assign user privileges at an individual level. This will allow for a member of staff to only see a group of individuals who may be enrolled in multiple programs.
Calendar: This user friendly application enables you to better plan and manage your time. The calendar provides you with an easy way to view events and appointment schedules, save day notes, mark dates for special staffing needs and other day to day events. It is very easy to make an entry on the calendar. You are able to easily indicate a portion of the day in ¼ hour increments on the calendar.
Notification: From now on you don’t need to worry about missing out on any reports. The Therap notification scheme has been made even more flexible to include all application modules. You can now configure your notification properties individually for all Therap applications. The system will page or email you as soon as there is an event you want to be aware of.

In addition to the above mentioned modules, Therap 6.0 features major upgrades to its existing modules. These include:

New modules added to Health Tracking: The Health Tracking application has been extended to include blood glucose, infection tracking, lab test results as well as medication history.
Secure Communications: The recipient selection scheme has been made more flexible in 6.0. You are able to create and manage custom user groups for mass mailing. The interfaces have been made more user friendly. You can now save draft messages in a separate folder accessible from your FirstPage. You may also create new folders to archive messages in your Inbox.
Behavior Tracking: The Behavior Plan application has been upgraded to incorporate an approval step. The user interfaces have been enhanced to increase usability. New features in BER include the Interval Spoilage Reports based on individuals’ behavior plans.
T-Logs: It is now possible to attach files to T-Logs. Also, while viewing T-Logs, you are able to make follow-up T-Log entries and view update history.

In a nutshell, upgrade 6.0 is going to be big! You can say its Therap’s way of wishing you a happy new year 2006. Or should we just say, 2006.0?

Therap Services

Leslie Gifford joined the Therap team 1 ½ years ago as the Director of Service Design. Before that she worked as a Systems Engineer at Bell Laboratories and then at AT&T Labs, designing operations support systems for AT&T’s voice and data services. At Therap, Leslie interacts with the customers to understand their needs. She then translates her findings into high-level business requirements and works closely with the business team to understand the priority of each proposed feature. After that she sits down with the developers to design what you finally see on your computer screen. According to her, the skill set needed for these is the same whether your customers are in telecommunications or are providers for the people with developmental disabilities.

A particular challenge in designing Therap features is developing a feature that meets “best practices” standards across the country. The new GER (General Event Report) feature is an example. Each state has a different set of forms that are used to report events like injuries, medication errors, deaths, etc. Leslie has studied forms from many states and from CMS, looking for common attributes and came up with the “best” way to address these issues. While many providers will use the new general event report as it is, there are states that will continue to require their own format for reportable incidents. So we have also incorporated state-specific forms. (You will see the result soon in the 6.0 release.) Leslie would love to hear what you think of this feature. Please use the feedback link on Therap applications to let her know. We always take our users views into account when designing new features and updates.

Leslie has worked on most of the functionalities delivered in the past year – e.g., Behavior Tracking, Event Summaries, the Therap FirstPage, Individual Data Forms, Health tracking, etc. She hopes you will stay tuned for even more exciting features that are currently in the pipeline.

CaseLoads

New approach in assigning user privileges

Assign user privilege using CaseLoad

Assign user privilege using CaseLoad

The current system of assigning user privileges to particular Programs serving groups of individuals works well for residential and many day programs but there are different needs for other types of users, where a given user may only have privileges for one Individual or several Individuals not aligned with the conventional programs, or for parents/guardians, who only have privileges for one Individual. CaseLoad has been developed as a solution to this problem.

Before, you could assign privilege to particular programs at the agency which would apply to all individuals enrolled in those programs. You may not need to use a particular application for all individuals in the program you have been granted access to. Again, an individual can be enrolled in multiple programs. If users need to work with records across all programs, they would have to be granted access across all programs the individual is enrolled in. In the process the user would gain access to data of all other individuals enrolled in these programs.

CaseLoad makes this process more efficient in that it can be defined to include one or more individuals enrolled in one or several programs. By assigning privileges to CaseLoads, you are able to restrict permissions down to a single individual. Not only does this make the process easier, this increases the system efficiency.

Q & A

Q: What are Animated Tutorials?

A: Animated tutorials are training demonstrations to help you learn about Therap applications. The tutorials take you through a Therap Application click by click showing what links you have to select and the buttons you must hit. All you have to do is sit back and watch the show.

These tutorials are currently kept on the Tutorial page of the Therap User Guide. To view one of these, please log on to the Therap system using your Login Name, Password and Provider Code and select the << User Guide >> link in the Help area on your FirstPage. You will find this link also on the page footer. On the User Guide, select the Tutorial link under the page header. You should see a list of available Tutorials. Select one from the list.

We would appreciate it very much if you take the time to send us your feedback on these demonstrations. We would like to improve them to better suit your needs.
