Proposal Writer (Remote & Hybrid)
The Proposal Writer will support Therap’s business development efforts as a key member of the RFP team. This position’s primary focus will be to populate and write responses to government and private RFPs, keeping in mind the language, tone, and readability of those responses. The Proposal Writer will also be asked to support other writing efforts throughout the company, including white papers and press releases. The Proposal Writer needs strong writing, communications and project management skills including setting, tracking and meeting multiple, sometimes shifting deadlines and the ability to work independently and in a team setting. This role is instrumental in supporting Sales and Government Business teams in delivering consistent, well-articulated, and strategic responses that support Therap’s brand message while increasing the likelihood of being awarded new opportunities.This position will report to the RFP Manager.
Job Functions:
- Read and analyze solicitation and proposal documents
- Responsible for writing proposals where the company’s strengths and capabilities are communicated concisely and persuasively
- Attend internal meetings to understand clients’ needs and translate that into proposals.
- Support the development and maintenance of proposal content library including features/benefits statements, past performances, staff resumes, and other proposal-related content
- Create and/or update content for features/benefits statements, overviews, technical approaches and other proposal-related content
- When existing responses don’t exist, skillfully creates aligned and relevant response content
- Assist in optimizing response messaging
- Miscellaneous administrative duties in relation to providing and maintaining responses
- Other duties as assigned, including supporting the development and writing of white papers and press releases
Experience/Qualifications:
- Degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or similar field
- 3-5 years of demonstrated writing experience either in proposals, grants, news articles, press releases, etc.
- Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
- Experience in social services, public health/healthcare industry, and/or software a plus
- Provide 2-3 writing samples with application
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong organizational, process management, problem solving, and writing skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively independently and with a collaborative team
- Ability to collaborate with both internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet defined goals within established timelines
- Possess a high degree of customer service to internal and external customers
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Strong time management skills
- Advanced skill in Microsoft Office suite and/or Google applications
- Proficient in navigating online platforms, such as bid platforms or online submission sites
